This panel is organised by the Network of Hinduism in Dialogue that is based at the Oxford Centre for Hindu StudiesResearch into the history, forms and mechanisms of interreligious dialogue are increasingly recognised as an important research field. The Network of Hinduism in Dialogue seeks to provide a space for scholarly discussions on interreligious dialogue that centres Hinduism and Hindus. The panel invites papers from the whole breadth of the academic engagement with Hinduism and interreligious dialogue/interreligious relations. We invite scholars of religion and area studies, anthropologists, theologians, political scientists, and other academics, including scholar-practitioners, to enrich the discussion with their perspectives. The panel is open to case studies of the social, intellectual, political and artistic interaction between Hindus and the members of other religions, such as Hindu-Muslim, Hindu-Buddhist, Hindu-Jewish or Hindu-Christian relations. It is also open to more theoretical reflections on what the academic engagement with interreligious relations and dialogue could look like when it shifts the focus away from Abrahamic traditions towards the Hindu traditions. In connection with this panel, there will be an informal meeting of the Network of Hinduism in Dialogue for anyone interested in Hinduism and interreligious relations. If you are interested in the topic, please get in touch so we can connect by email before and during the conference.Chair: Melanie Barbato (Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität Münster / Oxford Centre for Hindu Studies) Session 1Speakers:Mugdha Yeolekar (California State University, Fullerton), Hinduism and Interreligious Friendship from a Religious Literacy Perspective: Analytical Reflections on Quotidian ConversationsArvin Gouw (University of Cambridge), Cultured Meat: A Case Study for Hindu-Christian Dialogue on Animal Suffering and Climate ChangeSession 2 Speakers:Ihsan Altintas (Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität Münster), Hindus’ Perception of Islam, and vice versa: A Historical StudyLeena Taneja (Zayed University), Memoryscapes in Hindu-Muslim Sacred SpacesSession 3Speakers:Shruti Dixit (University of St Andrews), Apocalyptic Literary Genre: A Comparative Study of Hindu and Christian TextsIsaac Portilla (University of St Andrews), Interfaith Dialogue and Mystical ConsciousnessSession 4Speakers:Patricia Palazzo Tsai (Universidade Metodista de São Paulo (UMESP)), The Whole World is Our Family – When Universal Responsibility meets Vasudhaiva KutumbakamNeelima Shukla-Bhatt (Wellesley College), Hindu Devotional Songs: A Channel Fostering Interfaith HarmonySession 5Speakers:Alan Brill (Seton Hall University), The Contours of Hindu-Jewish ComparisonMario I.
