The European Academy of Religion

The European Academy of Religion, EuARe, offers a platform for researchers and scholars to meet, exchange ideas, collaborate, and develop further research. EuARe is an independent association supporting the study, research, and collaboration of religious topics across disciplines at the intersection of religion and social, cultural, and political issues. We offer a safe space for academic debate, analysis, and exchange. Our annual conference is a meeting place where researchers on religion of all academic disciplines are invited to share their research and contribute to the intellectual discourse. We support and inspire young researchers. We engage academics, policymakers, civil society, and faith-based communities through the generation of research impact and innovation and knowledge transfer perspectives.

About EuAre 2023

The European Academy of Religion’s 2023 conference theme is Religion from the Inside. Religions join people in common endeavours, offer fulfilment and purpose to their adherents, and bind together the material and the immaterial. They can be described propositionally, but are whole ways of life. As such, religions have characteristics which may be clear to those within but which are difficult to grasp for those without: inhabiting a building is different to looking over its blueprints. The examination of what is added (and what is lost) by taking the inside view is the theme of this year’s annual meeting.
