Inter-/Transcultural Philosophy of Religion
Authors: Fabian Völker, Victoria Harrison, Hans Schelkshorn, Marku Wirtz, Mathias Schneider
In the global age, the originally European terms ‘philosophy’ and ‘religion’ and their respective relations to each other have to be reconceptualised in a cross- and trans-cultural context. Philosophy has been construed not only as irreconcilable opposite to, but also as integral part of numerous religious traditions. As such, both philosophy and religion inevitably interact in a mutually challenging and enriching discourse space in a global society. In this panel, the speakers will present and discuss their personal approaches to inter-/transcultural philosophy.Chair: Mathias Schneider (European Network of Buddhist-Christian Studies / Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität Münster) Speakers:Hans Schelkshorn (Universität Wien), An Approach to Intercultural Philosophy of Religion: Some systematic outlinesVictoria Harrison (University of Macau), Sino-Muslim Philosophy in an Inter-religious PerspectiveMarku Wirtz (Universität zu Köln), Dealing with Conflicting Truth Claims in Intercultural Philosophy of ReligionFabian Völker (European Network of Buddhist-Christian Studies / Universität Wien), Outlines of a Transcendental and Transcultural Philosophy of Religion
