Authors: Laura Carnevale, Cambry Pardee, Jeffrey M. Tripp, Chris Skinner, Teresa Calpino, Timothy J. Lang, Luca Arcari, Fabio Caruso, Davide Dainese, Edmondo Lupieri, Emanuela Valeriani

In recent years, the Reception History of the Bible has become an increasingly important research topic. Edmondo Lupieri’s work has been pioneering in this field: he devoted his scholarly life to the investigation of biblical texts, especially the New Testament, and their interpretation across time. His methodology is demonstrated by his analyses of the Book of Revelation and by his research into the historical figures of Jesus, John the Baptist, and Mary Magdalene. In recognition of his contribution, Lupieri was honored with two separate Festschriften in 2022, one edited by American and the other by Italian colleagues. This panel aims at fostering a conversation regarding these books. Each of them is presented by the editors and discussed by three speakers who consider topics related to the New Testament, Early Christianity, the History of Exegesis, and Reception History, reflecting on Lupieri’s contributions to such fields. He himself will respond to the discussion. The panel is divided into two sections: (1) Presentation of C.G. Pardee, J.M. Tripp (eds.), Sacred Texts and Sacred Figures. The Reception and Use of Inherited Traditions in Early Christian Literature. A Festschrift in Honor of Edmondo F. Lupieri (JAOC 25), Turnhout, Brepols 2022; (2) Presentation of: L. Arcari, L.
