Panel Topic: Judaism
Trajectories in Contemporary Jewish Theology
Authors: Miriam Feldmann-Kaye, Hanoch Ben Pazi, Test Test, Tamar Ross, Cass Fisher
This panel will bring to the fore new research in the field of contemporary Jewish theology. Panels intend to address major ‘components’ of traditional Jewish theology from the inside, and investigate how ‘outside’ influences are brought to bear on this world of thought. The panel brings together prominent scholars in Jewish theology, who will present papers and discuss issues related to the concept of revelation, hermeneutics and bible, conceptions of God, the challenge of feminism and gender, modern Jewish thought and its developments into postmodern times. The panel is ‘open’ so that other scholars, who we might not yet know, can join. Participants on our panel are all contributors to, or Senior Editors of, the St Andrews Encyclopaedia of Jewish Theology, and we will also be discussing our contributions to this. We hope that the discussions on Jewish theology will feed into and enrich our contributions to the encylopaedia.Chair: Miriam Feldmann-Kaye (Bar Ilan University / St Andrews Encyclopedia of Theology)Speakers:Miriam Feldmann-Kaye (Bar Ilan University / St Andrews Encyclopedia of Theology)Hanoch Ben Pazi (Bar Ilan University)
