The interest that the Nicene-Constantinopolitan Creed has sparked in generations of scholars, as well as its legacy in the history of the Christian churches, has produced a significant amount of high-quality scientific literature, especially regarding theological, confessional, and textual issues. The Italian project The Nicene-Constantinopolitan Creed And Its Translation intends to expand this scientific production and to bring it to a new standard, by producing a holistic and coherent picture of the hermeneutical and historiographical variations in the different approaches to the Creed, and setting an epistemological framework for the paradigm shift in the study of the Symbol. The core elements of the project’s methodology are: 1) a team- oriented approach based upon a fruitful collaboration among scholars from different Italian institutions; 2) diachronic analysis of the history of the Nicene-Constantinopolitan Creed; 3) the expansion of the geographical area of investigation, with an inclusive approach to cultural and linguistic contexts generally overlooked by European researchers. This panel aims to discuss provisional results of the work conducted in the transversal micro-areas interested, by focusing on studies of doctrines and contexts of the Nicene-Constantinopolitan Creed in the course of its history, going beyond those (such as theology, christology, history of philosophy) that more traditionally studied.Chairs:Marianna Napolitano (FSCIRE)Massimiliano Proietti (FSCIRE)Speakers:Costanza Bianchi (FSCIRE).Federico Alpi (FSCIRE), Nicaea and the Nicene-Constantinopolitan Creed: Status Quaestionis and Perspectives of ResearchAnna Canton (Università di Palermo).Patrizia Spallino (Università di Palermo), Research Status on Arabic Christian Manuscripts and TextsAnna Chisena (Alma Mater-Università di Bologna).Giuseppe Ledda (Alma Mater-Università di Bologna), The Nicene Constantinopolitan Creed in Dante’s work and in the culture of his timeCaterina Berardi (Università di Foggia), Vincenzo Lomiento (Università di Foggia), The Latin commentaries on the Symbol (4th-5th century): liturgical, catechetical, doctrinal aspects
