EuARe 2023 Conference
The St Andrews Encyclopaedia of Theology was pleased to host, alongside Australian Catholic University, the sixth annual conference of the European Academy of Religion. The conference provided an excellent opportunity to explore the emic perspective that the Encyclopaedia values so much. While religions can be described propositionally, they are whole ways of life. As such, they have characteristics that may be clear to those within, yet difficult to grasp for those without: inhabiting a building is different to looking over its blueprints. ‘Religion from the Inside’ examined what is added (and what is lost) by taking the inside view.
